Triple shooting leaves one dead in Milton during manhunt for suspected Toronto cop killer

Three people were shot in Milton as police searched for the man suspected in the shooting death of a Toronto cop today.

Peel Police announced shortly after 3 p.m. that a two men had been shot Argentia Rd and Winston Churchill Blvd in Mississauga, a busy commercial area in the city.

In their announcement police shared that the men had been shot about an hour previous. Shortly thereafter Halton Police reported another shooting in Milton in which three people were wounded, one of whom succumbed to their injuries on scene.

The shooting led Halton police to shut down Bronte St from King St to Main St in Milton. The suspect took off from a auto body shop.

Halton police has no commented on the condition of the two survivors, nor have they released details about the deceased. The man shot in Mississauga was later identified as a Toronto Police officer.

Peel, Toronto, Halton and Hamilton launched a GTA-wide manhunt for a suspect on the run from investigators. The man fled the scenes in a black Jeep Cherokee with the plate CLMZ 905.

The driver, who Peel Police released an image of, was believed to still be armed and dangerous while the manhunt was under way. Halton Police later announced that man was arrested in Hamilton.

As a result of the manhunt police presences were stepped up across the eastern GTA in Hamilton, Milton, Mississauga and swarming with cops.

Halton Police announced around 4:30 p.m. that they had arrested a suspect in Hamilton. Peel Police announced as a result of the arrest there is no longer any threat to public safety.
