A Mississauga resident is planning a European holiday after a lottery win.

Elias Kantzavelos of Mississauga won $50,000 in the Daily Keno 8 Pick May 28 evening draw, Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation said in a press release.

Kantzavelos, a retiree, has played the lottery for decades, OLG said.

OLG said Kantzavelos loves Daily Keno and likes to pick his own numbers. This is his first big win.

“I woke up in the morning and was making coffee when I checked my tickets on the OLG app,” Kantzavelos told OLG.

“The last ticket I checked, I heard a little musical tone and had to put on my glasses to see the prize amount. I was shocked!”

He was thrilled to tell his family.

“I told my wife and she was shaking with excitement! I feel so happy and will be leaving here with a big smile,” he said.

Kantzavelos plans to share his windfall with his grandchildren, do some work around the house and enjoy some travel time in Europe.

The winning ticket was purchased at Miller Convenience on Miller’s Grove in Mississauga.
