What started out as a report of “stolen” license plates ended in a charge for a Woodbridge man who allegedly drove to a police station with a suspended license.

On Friday, the Caledon OPP says that a man drove to the Caledon OPP Detachment to make a report about stolen plates.

But police say that the officers quickly learned that the plates were not stolen but had actually been seized by another police service. Police say the 30-year-old from Woodbridge was a prohibited driver and had their plates confiscated following a previous traffic stop.

Gianpaolo Salvatore, 30, of Woodbridge has been charged with one count of Drive while Prohibited.

The accused is scheduled to appear in Orangeville Provincial Court in April, and none of the allegations have been proven in court.
