A weather alert has been issued by Pearson Airport in Mississauga urging all travellers looking to get away for March break today (March 10) to give themselves extra time and check the status of their flights in advance.

The alert comes as another blast of snow is expected to hit Mississauga and the GTA throughout today and into the evening.

Though only 10 centimetres or so of snow is expected, any wintry weather has the potential to cause flight delays.

“Heading to Pearson today? Be careful as snow is in the forecast, making for poor road conditions and visibility. As always, check your flight status with your airline before leaving for the airport,” Pearson officials said in their weather alert on social media this morning.

Travellers should also prepare for some potentially long lineups and other delays inside the airport terminals as Friday, the start of March break, is one of the busiest travel days of the year.

Airport officials also urge travellers to check in online for their flights and to arrive at the airport early.

Environment Canada says about five centimetres of snow is anticipated early on today in Mississauga and Brampton, with more snow possibly arriving tonight.

Beyond tomorrow, flurries are in the forecast for Sunday and Monday.
