Police are searching for a group of suspects after the robbery and attempted carjacking of a transport truck driver at gunpoint in Caledon.

On the morning of Feb. 16, the Caledon OPP says a transport truck driver came to an OPP police station and reported that they had been robbed.

Police say nothing was taken during the incident but that the driver was held up by a group of males at a trucking yard on Mayfield Rd. near Humber Station Rd. in Caledon at around 1:00 a.m.

A police spokesperson told Insauga.com that it’s believed the suspects were trying to steal the driver’s cargo.

The suspects were in multiple vehicles, police said, including a white SUV, a black Ford Explorer, a red Peterbilt transport truck, and a black Hyundai Elantra.

The victim then tried to leave the trucking yard in a black transport truck but was followed by one of the suspects in the Elantra, who tried to have the victim stop by waving a flashlight and a handgun at the driver, according to police.

That’s when police say the driver exited onto Hwy 410 and made their way to the police station to report the incident.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have information on the vehicles involved in the incident to contact the Caledon OPP at (905)-584-2241 or toll-free at 1-888-310-1122.

The vehicles are described as a white SUV, a black Ford Explorer, a red Peterbilt transport truck, and a black Hyundai Elantra.
