Transport truck crashes into frozen swamp off Highway 401 in Burlington

A transport truck crashed into a frozen swamp off Highway 401 in Burlington last night.
The driver lost control in the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 before Guelph Line around 8:30 p.m. yesterday (Jan. 22), OPP said on X.
The transport truck “jumped the snowbank” and travelled about 100 metres in the ditch. It then struck trees coming to a stop in a frozen swamp, police said.
The driver sustained minor injuries, police said.
The right eastbound lane was closed for several hours for the crash clean-up.
Around 2:30 a.m. police said they were making progress in removing the transport truck.
And by 5:40 a.m., the transport truck had been removed. All lanes of the highway are now open.
