A traffic stop for careless driving on Highway 401 in Mississauga on Tuesday afternoon led police to a few illegal items they didn’t initially expect to find.
Ontario Provincial Police said a vehicle being driven “carelessly” on the busy highway near Mavis Road was pulled over at around 4 p.m.
Subsequent investigation by police led to the discovery and seizure of various items including a replica handgun, break-and-enter tools, bear spray, illicit drugs (mushrooms and cannabis) and masks/face coverings, OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said in an online post on Friday.
An adult and three youths have been charged with weapons and drug offences, police said, adding the adult was also charged with careless driving.
One of the youths was held for a bail hearing, police noted.
