Today (August 9) marked the first day that American residents could drive across the Niagara Falls International Rainbow Bridge from Niagara Falls, New York into our Niagara Falls and as could be expected, there was quite a line-up.

American media reported that drivers were waiting three to four hours just to get across the bridge to the Canada Customs area on this side.

Turns out the situation was no better than the two bridges between Buffalo and Canada and the other Peace Bridge between the US and Fort Erie.

In fact, the line-up was so long that one news outlet said by 3 pm, Buffalo Police had to issue a traffic warning to avoid the area altogether as the line-ups were so snarled, it was affecting local traffic that wasn’t even headed to the bridges.
