Toyota Canada has announced that it’s recalling over 28,000 vehicles due to a possible safety issue.

On Feb. 21, the company announced that the safety recall involves 2023-2024 Tundra, Sequoia and Lexus LX 600 vehicles in Canada.

Approximately 28,061 vehicles are involved in the recall.

In a news release, Toyota said certain parts of the transmission may not immediately disengage when the vehicle is shifted to the neutral position, allowing some engine power to reach the wheels and cause the vehicle to creep forward, increasing the risk of a crash.

The company says Toyota and Lexus dealers will update the software at no cost to customers.

Owners of involved vehicles will be notified by late April 2024.
