The bad news is there will be a town-wide power outage in Fort Erie this Sunday (Oct. 1), including the Ridgeway, Crystal Beach, and Stevensville areas.

The good news is most residents will sleep through it as it’s planned for 2 a.m. to 2:30 a.m.

However, a quick note to drivers that night – there will be no street lights or traffic lights during that half-hour outage.

“We recognize that power outages are an inconvenience, so we have scheduled times we believe to be the least disruptive to our customers,” said Kristine Carmichael, Director, Corporate & Customer Services at
Canadian Niagara Power Inc.

“We are pleased that we were able to minimize what would have been numerous outages of lengthy durations to only thirty-minute outages by utilizing the IPL. We appreciate our customers’ patience and understanding during these outages.”

Canadian Niagara Power Inc., owned by FortisOntario Inc. and headquartered in Fort Erie, has approximately 30,400 customers in Fort Erie, Port Colborne, and Gananoque.
