The Town of Milton is currently undergoing a review and analysis of its user fees, excluding recreation and transit.

User fees are charged to users for Town services to partially or fully cover the cost of providing them.

When setting user fees, the Town follows the primary principle that those who benefit from a service should contribute to the cost of it.

The Town’s user fees are set to recover the full cost of providing the applicable service, in many cases.

According to the Town, the study it is undergoing includes fees associated with development application and approval processing, which are imposed under the Planning Act, Building Code Act, and Municipal Act.

As a result, the Town is seeking input from the community and stakeholders on the proposed changes to these fees which will be discussed at a virtual community meeting on July 20, 2022, at 2:00 p.m.

A presentation will be given at the meeting that will outline the proposed changes to fees and there will be opportunities for residents to provide their feedback.

Those interested in attending the meeting must register here.

The public is also encouraged to share feedback on Let’s Talk Milton from July 20 to Aug. 10, 2022.

A statutory public meeting and Council consideration of the fees will take place at a meeting on Sept. 12, 2022.
