The Town of Halton Hills is inviting residents to celebrate Black History Month this February with educational programs presented by Cultural Services and the Halton Hills Public Library.

At an upcoming Council meeting on Feb. 7., Mayor Rick Bonnette will recognize Black History Month.

“As we continue to shape our community as an inclusive and equitable place to live, work and play, it’s essential that we learn from the legacy, and engage with the stories of Black Canadians; this month, and throughout the year,” said Bonnette.

This year, highlights of Black History Month programming include a Halton Hills lecture series, a storywalk at the library, a winter reading challenge, an equity and diversity book club and more.

Black History Month was also recognized via a proclamation submitted through the Town’s new online process by the African Caribbean Association.

Proclamations are posted on the Town of Halton Hills’ website and are included in Council agendas in the General Information section.
