Town of Ajax earns $1.62 million-plus from second quarter casino revenue

The Town of Ajax is more than $1.62 million richer today after the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) cut a cheque for second quarter hosting rights for Casino Ajax.
The casino and quarter-horse track paid out $1,621,944 in 2022’s second fiscal quarter (July 1-September 30), bringing the total fiscal year revenue (April 1, 2022-March 31, 2023) to date to $3,326.947. Since the gaming site opened in February 2006, Ajax has received $100,786,108.
These payments to host communities are based on a formula consistently applied across all gaming sites in Ontario using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the hosted site.
“Revenue from OLG’s Municipality Contribution Agreements supports host communities so they can invest in programs and services that benefit everyone, from neighbourhood parks to local festivals,” said Peter Bethlenfalvy, Minister of Finance and Pickering-Uxbridge MP. “These payments help to improve the quality of life and make Ontario a vibrant and exciting place to live, work and play.
Proceeds of casino gaming are shared with local communities, contributing to economic recovery, infrastructure development and job creation. Payments to host communities are part of OLG’s commitment to Ontario – 100 per cent of OLG’s profits are reinvested in the province.
Over the past seven years, service providers have invested an estimated $1.8 billion in private sector capital investment across the province. Since 2017, these investments have led to the development and opening of six new casinos, with one under construction, one planned development and additional gaming expansions.
