Free beer and the satisfaction of helping clean up your lakefront?

A win-win proposition for sure.

Town Brewery will be leading a community cleanup of Whitby Shores this Saturday as part of The Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup initiative, in support of #oceanwise and the World Wildlife Federation.

The clean-up will take place from 10 a.m. to noon and garbage bags and gloves will be provided to all participants. Free pint cards will also be given to all those who attend, and the brewery encouraged residents on social media to “tell your friends” about the clean-up.

The Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup is a national conservation program that provides Canadians the opportunity to take action in their communities wherever water meets land, one bit of trash at a time.

Volunteers have already coordinated 1,159 cleanups and collected 18,864 kilograms of litter on 1,730.638 kilometres of Canadian shoreline this year.

Since 1994, there have been 27,800 cleanups that have collected more than two million kilos of trash.
