LONDON, Ont. — Former environment minister Jeff Yurek says he will resign his seat in the Ontario legislature next month.

Yurek has represented the southwestern Ontario riding of Elgin-Middlesex-London provincially as a Progressive Conservative since 2011.

Yurek served as minister of natural resources and forestry for several months in 2018 before being made minister of transportation in November of that year.

He held that post until June 2019, when he became minister of the environment, conservation and parks.

Yurek was shuffled out of cabinet in June 2021.

In a “farewell statement” posted on his website, Yurek says his decision to leave the legislature “was not made lightly or in haste.”
