A Toronto Police officer has reportedly been shot to death in a multiple shooting this afternoon in the Meadowvale area of Mississauga.

The shooting has prompted a manhunt across the GTA and beyond as police in Peel, Toronto, Halton and Hamilton are searching for the culprit who’s believed to be “armed and dangerous” and travelling in a stolen black Jeep Cherokee bearing licence plate CLMZ 905.

Another person was shot in the Mississauga incident, which took place at about 2:15 p.m. in the Argentia Rd./Winston Churchill Blvd. area in the northwest part of the city, according to Peel Regional Police.

That person was not taken to hospital.

While Peel police have revealed very few details, Global News is reporting that a Toronto Police officer was shot and killed during “an interaction in Mississauga.”

There’s a huge police presence at the Mississauga scene, including a number of Toronto officers.

Meanwhile, about a half hour after the Mississauga shooting, another double shooting that appears to be related took place just to the west, in the Bronte Rd. S./Main St. area of Milton.

The culprit there was reported by police to be driving the same Jeep Cherokee as the Mississauga shooter.

The gunman is described as black, with a thin build, wearing black clothes and a yellow construction vest.

He is considered armed and dangerous, according to police.

Anyone spotting the man or Jeep Cherokee is urged to call 911.
