A Toronto man has been charged with 21 offenses in the investigation into a Mississauga robbery back in 2021.

The victim was robbed at gunpoint near Goreway Dr. and Etude Dr., an area with both homes and businesses, on Jun. 21, 2021. The victim tried to chase after the mugger but was shot in the leg during the chase. His injury was not life-threatening.

Nearly two years later, on Apr. 24, 2023, Peel Regional Police announced an arrest in the case. Earlier that day they raided a home in Toronto, alongside the Toronto Police Tactical Unit. In the home, they claim to have found a Glock 30 pistol, .45 calibur handgun, a firearm silencer, and an unspecified quantity of unspecified drugs.

They arrested Sharmake Hassan on 21 charges including armed robbery, unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless discharge, and possession to traffic. He was held for a bail hearing and appeared in court on the same day as his arrest.

Anyone with information about the robbery can call police at (905)453-2121 ext. 1233 or Peel Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
