Toronto couple busted for alleged fraud at Bowmanville Service Ontario office

An attempt to register 20 vehicles in a Bowmanville Service Ontario location went quickly wrong for a Toronto couple who are now facing numerous fraud charges.
Officers from Durham Police’s East Division were called to the Service Ontario location on Church St. last Thursday afternoon for reports of a woman who was attempting to register vehicles to person(s) who were not from Durham Region and “believed to be fraudulent,” according to police. Latia Stewart, 26, had also entered the same Service Ontario on other occasions for the same purpose, police said.
Stewart and 39 year-old Andre Samuels, both from Toronto, were arrested on the scene without incident.
They are charged 16 counts of utter forged documents, 16 counts of fraud concealment, 20 counts of possess ID document, five counts of possession forged documents, fraud under $5,000, attempt fraud and conspiracy to commit.
Both suspects were released on an Undertaking.
