A veteran Toronto cop has been charged with fraud and stealing a missing person’s debit card used to make purchases in Mississauga, police say.

Back in February 2022, the Toronto Police Service said officers in the 53 Division were investigating a missing person report.

But police say one of the officers assigned to the case took the missing person’s personal belongings and gave them to another man who used the missing individual’s debit card to make a purchase at a store in Mississauga.

The police officer and the second man allegedly were part of a vehicle fraud and “obtained motor vehicles.”

Police say 48-year-old Boris Borissov, a 16-year veteran and constable with the TPS 53 Division, was charged on April 18, 2022, with:

  • Theft
  • Three counts of Breach of Trust
  • Trafficking Credit Card
  • Use Credit Card in Commission of Offence
  • Attempt to Obstruct Justice
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Unauthorized Use of a Computer System
  • Fraud

Police say Borissov turned himself in on Thursday and was also charged with failing to comply with a release order. He was scheduled to appear in court at Toronto Regional Bail Court, Thursday. None of the allegations have been proven in court.
