A Toronto chef just made it to the top 100 pizza chefs in the world.
The Best Pizza is a major annual ceremony that takes place every year in Milan, Italy.
The event — which sees chefs from all over the world — highlights masters of the craft, boundary pushers, and up-and-coming chefs who have launched their respective pizzerias into the national spotlight.
This year, a Toronto chef of such renown, Ryan Baddeley, placed in the Top 100 in The Best Pizza Selection 2026 on June 24.
Baddeley should be a familiar name to those who crave a slice in the GTA, as he is the key culinary mind behind Badiali, a pizzeria near Toronto’s neighbourhood of Trinity Bellwoods, that has seen lineups around the block for nearly five years.
Slices from Badiali have been in such high demand that earlier this summer, a second location was opened in the historic Mirvish Village in Toronto.
Iconic New York-style pizzas from the location that people come from all over the world to try include the Vodka pizza and Burrata Marinara.

Baddeley is no stranger to the competition, having placed 32nd and 51st in the top 100 in 2024 and 2025, respectively.
“With deep roots in both Italian and Spanish culinary traditions, Ryan has spent years honing his craft in some of Toronto’s most celebrated kitchens,” read Baddeley’s official bio on The Best Pizza website. “After leading award-winning restaurants, he turned his focus to one of the world’s most beloved foods — pizza.”
Baddeley placed 59th this year, earning a three-year streak of staying in the top 100 worldwide.
