Tornado risk alert issued for portions of southern Ontario

Parts of southern Ontario could get severe thunderstorms with a risk of a tornado on Thursday.

While the heat warning continues in the Greater Toronto Area, stormy weather is also in the forecast.

Thunderstorms are expected for southern, northeastern and portions of northwestern Ontario Thursday afternoon, Environment and Climate Change Canada said on X.

Storms in the northeast and southern parts of the province could produce strong winds, hail and rain.

There is a tornado risk for portions of northeastern and southern Ontario. The risk is in the cottage country area, including Muskoka, Almaguin Highlands and the Algonquin Park area.

The storms could start around 5 p.m. and continue into the evening.
