Another school year has come to an end, and again, students in the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board (DPCDSB) have shown they are high achievers.

The board has just released the names and grades of those who had the highest marks in their final years at each high school, and it shows that students have reached some very high grades.

The grades are for the 2024-25 school year.

DPCDSB’s top Ontario Scholar from a Brampton school is Devam Patel from St. Edmund Campion Catholic Secondary School, who graduated with an average of 99.2 per cent. Patel will be studying biomedical engineering at the University of Waterloo.

Joseph Iannotta from Robert F. Hall Catholic Secondary School is the top Ontario Scholar in the Bolton/Caledon/Orangeville area with a 98.7 per cent average. Iannotta will be studying engineering at McMaster University.

“Congratulations to all of our Ontario Scholars on their impressive accomplishments,” said Director of Education Dr. Marianne Mazzorato. “Reaching this high level of academic success requires a lot of hard work, focus, and determination from these students. Their achievements also show the important role of their teachers, parents, and guardians, who supported and motivated them as they prepared for their future education and careers.”

To be an Ontario Scholar, students must achieve an average of 80 per cent or higher on their top six Grade 12 courses. This year, 4,119 DPCDSB graduates earned this distinction.

A list of the top Ontario Scholars from each DPCDSB secondary school is noted below.

The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board is one of the largest and most diverse school boards in Ontario. It serves over 71,000 students in 151 schools located throughout Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon and Orangeville.
