Top 5 Winter Getaways Outside of Mississauga

Winter – a season that (usually) graces the region with wind, snow, ice, and frigid temperatures.
That list may seem negative to some people, however, this chilly season can also be quite beautiful and entertaining. And while there are a ton of fun winter activities and events that take place in Mississauga (this is Canada after all) there are also a ton of other incredible places that thrive in the winter.
Here are the top five winter getaways outside of Mississauga that you must go on this season.
Like all of the places we’re about to share with you, Montreal is beautiful all year but there’s something that makes the city especially stunning during the winter. And with being one of the most popular places to visit in Quebec, there is always lots to do.

Whether you’re skating on the Beaver Lake rink, skiing, sledding, or just strolling around, you will not be disappointed by all that Montreal has to offer in the wintertime.
Creemore was once a village and is now part of the Clearview Township located in Simcoe County.
Creemore is home to Creemore Springs Brewery (the perfect place to shake off that winter chill) and North America’s smallest jail (open to the public in the summertime).
In addition, Creemore welcomes its visitors to warm up at any of the incredible shops and restaurants the area has to offer. One restaurant you should check out while you’re in the area is The Old Mill House Pub where you’ll find mozzarella sticks, pub pickles, butter chicken, chicken wings, veggie burgers, and more.
This unique area is also hotspot for snowshoeing, hiking, cross-country skiing and well really any other winter activity you can think of.
Niagara Falls is guaranteed to be beautiful anytime you visit, but again, there is something so extraordinary about visiting during the winter.
Of course the sight of the falls alone is next level, but the Niagara Region also has many additional sights to see and things to do. A few of these include the Great Canadian Midway, the Fallsview Indoor Waterpark, and the Nightmares Fear Factory.
Besides seeing the falls and all the other attractions that can be explored, while you’re there why not enjoy some of the incredible restaurants the Niagara Region has to offer? A few restaurants you can pick from include the Rainforest Café, the Hard Rock Café, Morton’s Grille, and Buchanans Steak & Seafood.
The Muskoka Region is one of those places that has something for everyone and, like most places on this list, there is lots to do in the wintertime.
A few activities that are a must while you’re in Muskoka include snowmobiling, skiing or snowboarding at Mount St. Louis Moonstone or Horseshoe Resort, winter camping at Algonquin Provincial Park, relaxing at the Rosseau Muskoka Resort & Spa, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, just to name a few.
Like the rest of the places we’ve mentioned, you could also argue that Collingwood is just as good in the wintertime as it is in the summertime.
The Blue Mountain ski resort, incredible and unique shopping, and endless hiking trails that are covered in snow are all part of what makes the town a sight to see in the winter.
Collingwood is a winter wonderland when it comes to outdoor activities, however, not everyone enjoys the cold outdoor temperatures that Mother Nature often treats Canada with. If that is the case, you can still have heaps of fun in Collingwood.
