When you’re at work or on the go you just need a place where you can quickly grab some food and be on your way in Mississauga. It doesn’t always have to be the typical drive through we are used too.

Here are the top 5 take out spots for lunch in Mississauga:

5 – The Wingery Wings, chicken and perogies

That said, there is at least one more choice in Mississauga. The Wingery is a new chicken wing takeout and delivery resto located on Kennedy just north of Eglinton. Their slogan is “Size Matters” and when it comes to chicken wings, I absolutely agree. You can also tell by the picture that they’re telling the truth. The menu includes wings, sandwiches, perogies, poutine, mac and cheese bites, fried pickles, chicken fingers. These guys also have a $5 lunch special from 11am to 3pm that include a drink.

4 – Nguyet MinhVietnamese sandwiches

This is the joint for banh mi in Mississauga and let me tell you it’s cheap, $2.50 for a delicious banh mi sandwich. Vietnam was controlled by the French for a long time and it influenced the local cuisine. These subs made out of Vietnamese baguettes are stuffed with various mystery meats and Vietnamese pate are topped with pickled daikon radish, carrot, mayo and cilantro. I am honestly salivating just thinking of these little flavours infused carb bombs, and at $2.50 a pop, your outta there full for just over 5 shekels!

3 – Saucy KytchenItalian sandwiches

Located just east of Port Credit on Lakeshore in a lonely plaza is the #1 Italian Sandwich Joint in Mississauga called Saucy Kychen. I say lonely because if you do not have Google Maps to tell you exactly where to turn you will miss it. This place actually has no outdoor signage, but they do have some good Italian-style sandwiches. These sandwiches were gigantic (as you can see by the pictures), but that was not the best part. The flavour and taste of the veal was so delicious and prevalent you just wanted more. This place has seating for about 10 people but does get busy for lunch. They serve veal, chicken, pork, steak, meatballs, Italian sausage, eggplant and veggie sandwiches.

2 – Holy Smokez BBQ SandwichesSouthern BBQ

Located in an unassuming strip plaza on Dundas between Tomken and Dixie is a unique sandwich shop (especially for Mississauga) called Holy Smokez BBQ Sandwiches. It’s unique because we really haven’t seen much BBQ style joints in Mississauga. Not much of sitting area in the place so you might be eating in the car or at your desk.

1 – Leelas Roti – Caribbean

Leelas Roti and Doubles — located in an unassuming plaza on Rathburn west — is the best roti shop in Mississauga. I’d heard a lot about this place, so I was excited to try the chicken curry roti and it did not disappoint. The chicken curry was flavourful and cooked to perfection. The chicken to potato ratio was great on the chicken side. The roti itself was so soft and the combination blended together perfectly. They also have some great specials, like $3 rotis on Tuesdays. Wednesdays are $3 chicken munch — boneless chicken (dark meat) wrapped in a thin paratha. That is an entire meal under $5! It’s like living in the 90s again! Expect to stand in line at lunch though.
