Top 5 songs and artists revealed for Mississauga, Brampton and Canada

The 2023 lists of top artists, songs and genres are out and reveal the most popular music in Mississauga, Brampton and Toronto.

The lists, from the streaming service Spotify, are part of the company’s “2023 Wrapped” campaign. Listeners can also get personalized “2023 Wrapped” lists of their most-streamed songs, albums, artists and podcasts.

Overall, 2023 was defined by the return of major female artists, sonic diversity across the charts, and a global music culture that saw the rise of powerful genres, Spotify notes in a press release.

“Our top lists reflect these trends and the overall expansion of music and podcasts as Spotify continues to grow its user base,” the release notes.

If you are wondering if there are regional differences in music taste — it appears there are — even between communities in the Greater Toronto Area.

However, Toronto superstar Drake takes the top spot for all the GTA lists. And Taylor Swift comes in second.

While Mississauga loves pop — Brampton is more of a rap and hip hop city. But as in Mississauga, Drake and Taylor Swift top the list of favourite artists in B-town.
