French toast is an iconic, special occasion treat that is delicious, sweet, and perfect as an alternative breakfast to eggs, bacon and toast. French toast is the type of comfort food you crave on a Saturday or Sunday morning when you want to relax and enjoy every bite of your meal.

Here are the top 5 restaurants to get the best French toast.

5) Captain Robin’s

In the heart of Port Credit, Captain Robin’s is an all-day breakfast place that serves large portions and boasts an excellent menu selection. The restaurant isn’t up to date with modern furnishings, but the breakfast makes up for it. The French toast comes with four pieces of toast with lightly sprinkled icing sugar. You can include eggs, bacon, and sausage with your French toast if you prefer and the total cost of your meal is relatively similar to other all-day breakfast joints at around $11.00.

4) Skyway Jacks

Skyway Jacks is a hidden gem in Streetsville that is missed by many when visiting. It offers many breakfast favorites with generous portions that can be shared with your family and friends. The French toast came with two options, a classic French toast or a big breakfast with sausage and eggs. It came with four toasts lightly coated in icing sugar and syrup on the side. Overall, the price of a great meal is the cheapest at around $9.00 compared to other breakfast places in Mississauga.

3) Olympia Grill

Olympia Grill is a family restaurant that’s been operating for over 30 years and it’s stood the test of time for a reason. From the outside, you would never know that this place serves breakfast. The French toast classic has multiple options, including a choice of rye, brown or white toast and meat and potatoes. You’ll receive a very generous portion with six toasts and a side of fresh fruit. If you are running late and in need of a quick bite, this place has you covered. It’s quick service and friendly staff are a bonus to a delicious meal.

2) Panagio’s All Day Grill

Some of the best French toast in Mississauga is at your fingertips. Panagio’s is the perfect all-day breakfast place that serves a variety of morning favourites all day long. Established in 2008, the unique combinations, tastes, and flavors will not disappoint. There are three options for French toast that are not usually offered, including cinnamon apple and glazed banana. The cinnamon apple was by far my favourite. The apples had a crunch and the cinnamon was lightly coated and the toasts were not soggy or burnt. Overall, the ambiance is modern, clean, and friendly with a take-out option for quick service.

1) Bobby’s Hideaway

Streetsville has awarded Bobby’s Hideaway the best and most popular breakfast restaurant in Mississauga. Also, the all-day breakfast option is very convenient for a busy work week when you want something different for lunch. I had a choice of plain French toast or cinnamon-raisin with a side of bacon, ham or sausage. The cinnamon-raisin French toast was delicious. It was fluffy, not too sweet and not overpowering with the coated cinnamon. When you think of French toast, you imagine a sweet breakfast full of sugar. This French toast was more savory than sweet and provided a side of protein to balance out the meal.
