Here are the 5 hottest restaurants in Mississauga for the week of Dec. 28 - Jan. 3, based on the number of organic page views and searches these restaurants received on insauga.com.

5) La Carnita

The beloved Toronto-born Mexican restaurant La Carnita recently opened its doors in The Food District in Square One. The restaurant made quite a name for itself in Toronto, as its College Street location is known for its huge lineups and inventive tacos. Now, the resto’s new Square One outpost offers a trendy atmosphere, pulse-pounding music, a spacious patio (which is only open during the warmer months) and absolutely delicious tacos and tostadas that feature everything from ceviche, cod and chorizo to Baja shrimp, cotija cheese and sweet potato.

2) Guru Lukshmi

This place is one of the most popular South Indian restaurant in the GTA—and for good reason. The somewhat recently expanded location underwent a renovation that closed the restaurant for some months, causing a near-riot in the foodie/Indian community in the region. The service here is excellent and the helpful wait staff is more than happy to explain each dish and chilli level to first-timers. To me, there is nothing more beautiful than a crispy and buttery Masala dosa with three different fresh chutneys and the soup (Sambar), which is to die for. Here is a tip, MAKE RESERVATIONS or you may be forced to wander the parking lot at McLaughlin and Derry for an hour as you wait for an open table. Also, meat lovers need not apply, this place is strictly vegetarian.

3) Pho Ngoc Yen

No matter what month it is, there's no food more satisfying or comforting than pho—a signature Vietnamese soup famous for its flavourful broth and hearty toppings. And although most Vietnamese places do pho justice, some produce astounding and exquisite noodle soup (and pork and mango salad and spring rolls, of course) and pair it with an absolutely unforgettable atmosphere. One of those gems is the newly opened Pho Ngoc Yen, a beautifully decorated and stunningly tasty Vietnamese resto that just took shape on Kamato Road in the Tomken and 401 area in Mississauga. As far as food goes, the steaming hot rare beef pho stands up against hearty, delicious soup served in Hanoi. So, too, do the crispy Vietnamese spring rolls, served with delicate, subtle fish sauce. Other commendable dishes include the flavourful and authentic pad Thai—a dish that gets extra points for its spectacular presentation—and the vermicelli with pork. Although this restaurant is hidden, it's already getting a reputation for being authentic and delicious. You don't want to miss this one, even if it's nowhere near your office.

2) Capra’s Kitchen

Look out Mississauga! Chef Massimo Capra and his signature ‘stache and big personality are in our city. Chef Massimo recently opened a restaurant called Capra’s Kitchen in his hometown of Mississauga in the former Villa La Bella space along Lakeshore Rd. in the Clarkson neighbourhood. Over the past few years, it's become a fan favourite. Chef Massimo is an accomplished celebrity chef, TV personality, author and Saugaboy who has an extensive resume. His career began when he first started toiling in kitchens in Italy. He made his way to Toronto in the early 80s and worked in a few notable fine dining establishments in the city. His brand new restaurant offers lunch, dinner and weekend brunch and his menu is full of delicious, classic Italian fare that's sure to leave every diner satisfied.

1) La Bonita

This is a hidden gem in Mississauga. Their menu is full of amazing options ranging from the famous Colombian platter, the bandeja paisa, to empanadas, patacons, arepas, and so much more. One thing I’ve learned about South American cuisine is that they know how to make a delectable beef tongue! If you aren’t used to it, you may be a tad grossed out by it all, but if you ever muster the courage or are a fan of beef tongue, you have to try it at La Bonita! Cooked to absolute perfection, this meal comes with potatoes, rice, salad, and yucca! These options can be substituted upon request. Finally, their Churrasco. A one inch, AAA sirloin steak that comes out on a sizzling hot plate with chimichurri and all kinds of other flavours! As a side, this dish comes with an entire plate of rice, beans, and sweet plantain; both plates for a very fair $19! La Bonita will make you want to book your next flight to Bogota in a hurry!
