Located in a plaza at the southwest corner of Mississauga on Royal Windsor and Southdown (yes, that is still Mississauga) is one of the best kept Italian restaurants in the city called Casalinga. This place can't be any bigger than 40 seats and gets packed pretty fast, especially on weekends. They offer house-made gnocchi (small dumplings made from potato, semolina or flour that are usually served with sauce) and house-made gnocchi is usually hard to find, especially in Mississauga. That right there says a lot about the restaurant. We ordered the potato gnocchi that came with lamb, caramelized onions, cherry tomatoes, roasted garlic, mushrooms and tomato sauce. The dish was absolutely delicious and the gnocchi melted in our mouths. You won't be hungry after eating something this generously portioned. They also have thin crust pizza cooked in a stone oven. Casalinga has been around for just over three years, and if they keep serving this hearty Italian food, they will be here for generations to come.

The concept offers a visual and culinary journey through three magnificent palaces of India and a menu featuring cuisine from four different regions in India. The storybook menu is divided into four regional cuisines found in India which have been influenced by various ingredients and flavours of a variety of countries including Greece, West and Central Asia and Persia. There are a number of shareable dishes and entrees highlighting the unique flavours of each region through Awadhi cuisine, classic Hyderabadi cuisine, Punjabi cuisine and Rajputana cuisine. The extensive menu caters to all palates and features distinct regional dishes presented on fine dishes such as copper bowls, slate boards, and copper table top grill.

Other commendable dishes include the flavourful and authentic pad Thai—a dish that gets extra points for its spectacular presentation—and the vermicelli with pork. Although this restaurant is hidden, it's already getting a reputation for being authentic and delicious. You don't want to miss this one, even if it's nowhere near your office.
It looks like Mississauga's once spartan ramen scene is exploding. Recently, Sansotei Ramen opened its doors in Square One—making City Centre a new mecca for ramen. Sansotei, which currently operates locations in Toronto, North York, Markham, Ottawa and Richmond Hill, is known for both the long lineups it tends to generate and its small but satisfying menu. Some soups on the menu include tonkotsu ramen, tonkotsu black ramen, miso black ramen, shoyu ramen, spicy tan tan ramen and tomato ramen. According to Sansotei's website, the resto's ramen broth is freshly made everyday with pork bone. Diners can also choose thick or thin noodles and add extra toppings (think chashu, eggs, mushrooms, green onion and more) for an additional charge.
Nomad’s Restobar is another Toronto joint that just expanded into our neck of the woods--and its second location is happily situated in Port Credit. The family-owned establishment, which opened just west of Hurontario on Lakeshore Blvd., also operates a location on the Danforth.
