Flatbreads in Mississauga come in all shapes, flavours and sizes and are usually found at restaurants that don’t serve pizza. Flatbreads are great because restos can get creative with them and cover them in ingredients you might not find on a typical pizza.

That said, if you’re looking for something a little more like the classic Italian comfort food, you can get a vegetarian or meat lovers dish.

Here are the top 5 flatbreads found in restaurants in Mississauga.

5 – Ballers Bistro

You might not think a snookball facility would have good food, but this one does. Ballers Bistro is broken down into four areas: the actual snookball area, the bar, the restaurant and the VIP spot. In all the areas, you can grab food and the food is delicious and the flatbread is no exception. We had the hearty meat lovers flatbread that was cooked perfectly with a nice crispness to it and a good amount of meat.

Meat Lovers – Signature pizza sauce, pepperoni, smoked ham, mushroom and mozzarella cheese

4 – Failte

Failte, known for its live music and chicken wings, also serves some fantastic flatbread. There are three to choose from: the margherita, meat lovers and creole. Of course, we had the meat lovers. This flatbread was very flavourful and the bread was nice and soft and had the perfect amount of drizzle.

Meat Lovers – Pepperoni, crispy bacon, Irish sausage, basil oil, cheese blend and balsamic reduction

3 – Union Social

Ah…good old Union Social. What else can be said about Union Social other than they serve good food? Union Social Eatery is a casual restaurant located in a plaza in the business park area along Derry Rd that caters to local businesses and diners who spot the resto from the street. They have two flatbreads to choose from — the roasted veggie and the smoky club (which we had). This is the biggest flat bread on the list and it’s full of flavour.

Smokey Club Flatbread: cheddar cheese, jalapeno-Monterey jack, smoked bacon, grilled chicken, tomatoes, lettuce and garlic sauce

2 – Roc’n Doc’s

Located in the heart of Port Credit, Roc’n Docs features live music every night of the week and is a staple in the live music scene in Mississauga. The venue has made it onto a number of Top 5 lists, including best patio, top Port Credit bars and now flatbread. The resto’s main level is equipped with a stage and the second level boasts one of the best roof top patios the city has to offer. This casual restaurant offers a menu of pub-style eats, a variety of cocktails and beer.

Roc’n Flatbread: Garlic toasted flatbread with arugula, caramelized onions, mushrooms and goat cheese

1 – Cagney’s

In 2014, Cagney’s took on five months and about $1.2 million worth of renos. Cagney’s menu focuses on local and seasonal ingredients and includes a substantial appetizer selection that boasts amazing flatbread. The Cagney’s flatbread is the most flavourful on this list and comes with caramelized onions, grape tomatoes, feta, goat cheese, pesto, arugula and balsamic glaze and everything works perfectly. Bonus: The chef and his team make everything, including bread, desserts, fresh cut fries, sauces and stocks in house.

Cagney’s Flatbread: Caramelized onions, grape tomatoes, feta, goat cheese, pesto, arugala and balsamic glaze.
