Tip leads to three arrests in string of 8 Mississauga and Brampton pharmacy robberies

A “keen-eyed” Brampton resident has led to the arrest of three people, including two teenagers, after a string of eight robberies in Mississauga and Brampton.

Around 12:30 p.m. on September 21, 2022, the tipster saw three people handling a firearm near Wanless Dr and Brisdale Dr, an area home to numerous suburban houses.

The tipster called Peel Regional Police who sent out officers from 22 Division, the Tactical Unit and the K-9 Unit. On arrival, they arrested two teenage boys and an adult man. Police also found two firearms.

As police investigated, they linked the three suspects to eight robberies across Peel Region between September 2, 2022, and September 19.

Police believe members of this group may have also been involved in a pharmacy robbery out in Vaughan. Working with York Regional Police investigators found two stolen cars they believe were used in the robberies

They also found other items related to the robberies including a large stache of prescription narcotics.

“This was an excellent demonstration of the value of our community in responding to violent crime. Combined with coordinated police response, this has ended a violent crime spree while removing another two illegal firearms from our streets,” said Deputy Chief Nick Milinovich.

As a result of the investigations Lenroy Huggins, 18 of Toronto, is charged with;

  • eight counts of robbery
  • nine counts of possession of property obtained by crime
  • attempt to commit an indictable offence
  • three counts of wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence
  • two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • two counts of possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition
  • two counts of careless storage of a firearm and
  • tamper with serial number of a firearm

Additionally, a 16-year-old boy from Toronto was charged with;

  • four counts of robbery
  • five counts of possession of property obtained by crime
  • attempt to commit an indictable offence
  • four counts of wear disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence
  • two count of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • two counts of possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition
  • two counts of careless storage of a firearm and
  • tamper with serial number of a firearm

Finally, a 17-year-old boy from Brampton was charged with;

  • two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • two counts of possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition
  • two counts of careless storage of a firearm
  • tamper with serial number of a firearm

The identities of the two minors are protected by the Youth Criminal Justice Act. All three suspects appeared in court on September 22 and will remain in custody until a bail hearing.
