A Hamilton driver faces charges after a car was found with tinted windows.
Hamilton Police’s Traffic Safety Unit spotted the car on Upper James Street results on Friday (Sept. 16).
The car was towed and impounded for seven days, police said. The driver also faces several Highway Traffic Act charges.
“If you have a window tint like this, it is dangerous,” Hamilton Police said in a tweet. “For everyone’s safety it should be changed or removed.”
In 2016, a new Ontario law prohibited the front windshield from being tinted after market and stipulated windows to the right and left of the driver must not block more than 30 per cent of light.
This helps pedestrians and cyclists see the driver and therefore know if they have been seen or not.
