Organizers are saying the St Catharines Collegiate Institute 100th Year Reunion coming on May 20 was "a century in the making."

The 100th Anniversary Reunion Committee for St. Catharines Collegiate has extended ticket sales until May 16.

While sales were supposed to officially be cut off on May 6 – with the big day coming Saturday, May 20 – organizers added another 10 days for slowpokes and late-comers.

As well, the $40 tickets will be available at the door of the school (34 Catherine St.) when events kick off at 11 a.m. and run until 11 pm.

“This is a celebration a century in the making! After very successful reunions in 1983 (60th) and 1998 (75th), the Grand Old Lady of Catherine Street is turning 100 in 2023,” says the group on its Facebook page.

Throughout the pandemic, a core group of volunteers has been working to arrange the 100th anniversary celebrations for the St. Catharines Collegiate, and those plans are now being shared with the public.”

The group says decade room organizers “are already planning their rooms, so dig out those old corduroy jackets, leather football bombers, and your memorabilia to put on display for all to see, and mark your calendar for a day (and night) full of sharing memories and making new ones.”
