Tiger-Cats bring receiver-kick returner Papi White back to Hamilton with new deal

Papi White sparked the Tiger-Cats' come-from-behind win over the Toronto Argonauts in the 2021 Eastern Final when he returned a punt 92 yards.

The man known as “Big Play” Papi is back in Hamilton.

The Tiger-Cats announced Tuesday (Jan. 18) they’ve re-signed Papi White.

The American receiver sparked the Tiger-Cats’ come-from-behind win over the Toronto Argonauts in last month’s Eastern Final when he returned a punt 92-yards for a touchdown. White’s score came in the third quarter with the Ticats trailing 12-0.

The 25-year-old appeared in five regular season games, including four starts, for the Tiger-Cats last season, registering 11 receptions for 105 yards, one receiving touchdown and 13 carries for 43 yards.

White, a native of Seminole, Oklahoma also factored into the return game, registering six punt returns for 90 yards and one kickoff return for 23 yards.

The Ohio University product suited up in all three playoff games for the Tiger-Cats in 2021, registering five kickoff returns for 105 yards and 12 punt returns for 187 yards.
