Rolle Island is returning to Hamilton.

The Tiger-Cats announced Tuesday (Feb. 8) the football club has re-signed American defensive back Jumal Rolle.

Rolle, 31, started all 14 regular-season games for Hamilton in 2021 — registering 40 defensive tackles, two special teams tackles, two interceptions, including an 88-yard interception return touchdown (first career CFL touchdown) and a team-leading 11 pass knockdowns en route to his first Canadian Football League all-star nomination.

The six-foot, 190-pound native of Wilson, North Carolina also suited up in all of the Tiger-Cats’ playoff games, including the 108th Grey Cup in Hamilton.

Rolle has played in 49 career CFL games with 41 starts over three seasons in Hamilton (2018-21), collecting 115 defensive tackles, eight special teams tackles, nine interceptions, one touchdown, and 22 pass knockdowns.

Prior to joining the Tiger-Cats, the Catawba College product appeared in 19 National Football League games with the Houston Texans (2014-15) and Baltimore Ravens (2015). Rolle posted 22 defensive tackles, three interceptions, and four passes defended.
