Special weather statement in effect for Mississauga, Brampton, Burlington, Oakville, Hamilton, Halton Hills, Milton.
Scattered thunderstorms moving eastward across the area early this morning will contain very frequent lightning and heavy downpours which may give locally 20 to 40 mm of rain in an hour.
Wind gusts to 70 or 80 km/h and local power outage are also possible.
Motorists should be prepared for sudden very low visibility in heavy downpours, and sudden ponding of water on poorly drained sections of highways.
