People often complain that the holiday season creeps up immediately after Labour Day, so those who like to wait until at least November to start feeling festive might be pleased to know that some fall events are coming to Square One in Mississauga.

The shopping centre, which will be open on Thanksgiving Monday, is actually hosting a few fall pop-ups that have nothing to do with Christmas (although we’re sure Square One will go all out for the holidays when the time is right).

So, what can shoppers expect to find this October?

Square One says shoppers with a flair for visual arts can check out the FujiFilm Printlife Photo Exhibit, which kicked off on October 7. The exhibit, which features photos submitted by various Canadians, will run until Oct. 13.

Sweet lovers can also check out a Candy Crate pop-up from October 14-16.

Square One will also also be celebrating Diwali (which is also known as the festival of lights), a five-day festival that takes place in the fall in the northern hemisphere and in the spring in the southern hemisphere.

The holiday is celebrated by Sikhs, Hindus, Jains, and Buddhists and symbolizes the victory of light over darkness.

From the 17 to the 20 of October, Square One will become a “one-of-kind destination where shoppers can experience the food, fashions, and traditions of Diwali.”

The market will explore traditions, fashions and foods associated with the renowned festival.

Those in the mood to celebrate fall should also note that The District Kitchen–which can be found inside The Food District– will be hosting a floral pumpkin vases workshop on Saturday, Oct. 12 and Wine-tober Fest cocktail interactive on Thursday, October 17.

Will you be enjoying some fall events at Square One this season?
