While it’s not as low as yesterday’s one new COVID-19 case in Niagara Region, today’s (July 14) count of three new cases comes with a silver lining.

Niagara Health reports that 10 existing cases were resolved today, dropping the Region to its lowest active cases for 2021 at just 71. More cases are getting resolved daily than are actually coming in.

According to the health unit, in the last 14 days, the variant in the new case is 100 per cent “likely Delta.”

The two separate age groups between 20 and 59 (20-39, 40-59) still represent the majority of the cases within the region since COVID-19 began, accounting for slightly more than 10,000 of the region’s total cases of 16,290 since March 2020.
