After two new COVID-19 cases announced on July 6 and six new cases yesterday, Niagara Health said that three more cases were discovered today (July 8).

The July 6 number was the lowest the Niagara Region has seen since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.

While health officials in the region would prefer the number be zero, Niagara Region is nonetheless doing exceptionally well compared to others in southern Ontario, especially Peel, Toronto and York.

So far in 2021, the highest number of new cases was hit on April 15 with 220.

The three new cases, second-lowest daily total for 2021 after July 6, bring the regional total of active cases up to 97.
