Three new COVID-19 cases in Ajax yesterday; just four in Durham reported

New COVID-19 cases took a big drop Thursday, with just four new cases reported in Durham Region.

Three of the new cases were from Ajax as Oshawa and Clarington both enjoyed their fourth day this week with zero new cases. The total number of active cases in the region also fell to 61.

There were no new cases of the virus at long-term care homes – which is especially good news – though there was a new workplace outbreak added to the lingering outbreak at a manufacturing facility. This latest workplace outbreak happened at an office.

Ormiston Public School in Whitby, with two students isolating at home, remains the only outbreak at a Durham Region school.

The percentage of the region’s 12-plus population now fully vaccinated is now at 82.7.
