Three new COVID-19 cases diagnosed in Peel as testing ramps up

As testing for COVID-19 ramps up across the country, more cases are being diagnosed–including three in Peel, two in Halton and two in Hamilton.
The Halton Region has also announced that a man in his 50s with an underlying medical condition has died of the virus.
His death is the second one that’s been linked to coronavirus in Ontario.
According to the province’s COVID-19 website, 42 new cases have been found in Ontario. As of 10:30 am on March 19, the province is reporting 257 positive cases (five of which have been resolved), 12,421 negative cases, and one death (the website has not yet reported the Halton fatality).
The site says 3,972 possible cases are under investigation and that 16,650 people have been approved for COVID-19 testing.
According to the site, all three Peel patients are women in their 50s who recently travelled (two on cruises and one to Manila). In Halton, cases have been diagnosed in a man in his 50s and a woman in her 50s. Both have a history of travel.
