When it rains, it pours!

Yesterday, we learned that two lucky Mississauga residents were enjoying substantial wins and today, OLG announced that three more residents are starting the weekend in style with much fatter bank accounts.

Mississauga couple Jose and Alda Farias are celebrating after winning $394,459.20 with Lotto Max (Feb. 3 draw). The pair matched six out of the seven numbers, plus the bonus number on their ticket to win the secondary prize.

Their winning ticket was purchased at Sam’s Variety & Postal Outlet on Queen Street in Streetsville.

Another Mississauga resident, 20-year-old Mehran Maroof, is pretty excited after winning the $250,000 top prize with Instant Super Money Multiplier

“I enjoy playing Instant scratch games,” Maroof told OLG at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. “I asked my dad to pick up a couple of scratch tickets for me. After playing the games, I realized I had a winning ticket. I was stunned.”

According to OLG, the young winner asked his father to take a look at his ticket.

“He said, ‘I think you have a winner.’ I still didn’t believe it so I asked my brother to come over and check the ticket too. He said, ‘Yes, you did win!’ We were all so surprised.”

Maroof headed to the store with his dad and scanned his ticket in the ticket checker. “We saw the amount on the screen and began laughing with excitement.”

Now that he’s $250,000 richer, the benevolent Maroof hopes to help his family purchase a home.

“I currently live in an apartment building with my family. This win will help me buy a family home for all of us. I would also like to take a trip with my family and another one with friends. I’ve never been on vacation before. I’d love to see Cuba and maybe even Dubai. Winning the lottery means a very bright future for me and my family.”

Instant Super Money Multiplier is a $10 Instant game that has seven top prizes of $250,000. Overall odds of winning are 1 in 3.87.

The winning ticket was purchased at Starbank Convenience Mart on North Service Road in Mississauga.
