Three mid-rise apartment buildings with over 300 units have been proposed in the Town of Milton.

The development, proposed by Shearling Heights Estates Limited, would be located on the northeast corner of Bronte Street South and Britannia Road. It would include three mid-rise apartment buildings with a total of 313 units, townhouse dwellings with 32 units and back-to-back townhouse dwellings with 28 units.

The proposal also has approximately 903 square metres of commercial space at grade at the corner of Britannia Road and Bronte Street South.

Additionally, with the exception of the 32 townhouse units, it proposes to accommodate the majority of its parking with an underground parking lot.

As a result of this proposal, the applicant is seeking amendments to the Town of Milton’s zoning bylaw.

The lands, which have an approximate area of 2.12 hectares, are currently a Mixed-Use (MU) Zone and designated as a “Major Node Block” through the plan of the subdivision approval process and were registered in 2018.

According to the Town of Milton, the application for the amendment to the zoning by-law would permit townhouse units as well as add site-specific provisions to the existing MU Zone to develop these lands.

This application is currently under technical review and is set to be discussed at an upcoming virtual statutory public meeting on Oct. 4.

Residents are advised that a decision on this proposal will not be made by Milton Council at this meeting.
