Three injured at Hamilton restaurant, man with a gun facing multiple charges

Three people were transported to hospital and Hamilton police arrested a man with a handgun following a disturbance in the early morning hours of Saturday, Oct. 22.

Police received calls regarding a disturbance, including where a handgun was seen, at a restaurant in the area of Upper Gage and Fennell Ave. E.

When they arrived, three people had already been injured and were taken to the hospital.

A perimeter was set up and police made an arrest. During the investigation police located and seized a loaded firearm.

Marchello D’eshaun Fletcher, 26 from Hamilton, has been charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, failure to comply with a release order and assault.

“This is not the end. Hamilton Police will continue to engage with our community, police partners and share information in order to provide community safety,” said a police spokesperson.

“The citizens of Hamilton need to continue to feel safe in their communities and as a community we need to stop gun violence. Public safety is a shared responsibility, in which both citizens and police have important roles.”
