Peel Regional Police are warning public in Mississauga to remain vigilant and ensure that all entry points in their home, including windows, are properly secured, following a string of break-and-enter incidents.

Three such incidents have been reported since the beginning of June and seem to be exhibiting similar pattern of theft, according to police.

In two of the incidents, the suspect entered residences during the early hours  in the morning while the homeowners were asleep. The third incident took a more alarming turn, as the victim was assaulted and sustained minor injuries. The suspect subsequently fled the scene with stolen property and currency.

Police say taking preventive measures can significantly reduce the risk of such break-ins.

“Some helpful tips for protecting your home include keeping doors locked even when inside, considering the installation of locking devices for windows and sliding doors, and evaluating the potential benefits of a comprehensive home security system, both indoors and outdoors,” said Peel Regional Police in a statement.

The investigation is still ongoing and police are asking anyone with information related to these break-and-enters to contact the 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau at (905) 453–2121, ext. 1133.
