An ongoing investigation into allegations of the sale of illegal drugs from a St Catharines home resulted in the arrest of three people yesterday (June 23).

Since April 2021, detectives with the Niagara Regional Police have been investigating a home in the Edith Street and Chetwood Street area.

On June 23 at 2:55 pm, officers arrested the three suspects after they reportedly found $1,730 in the house, which they believed to be a result of the alleged crime.

In addition, detectives seized three bicycles, all of which are alleged to be stolen.

After a warrant was served, police seized an alleged 8.5 grams of crystal methamphetamine and other illegal narcotics.

Police say the street value of the seized drugs is estimated at $6,000.

Jan William Altorf, 18, of St. Catharines, was arrested and charged with possession of several illegal substances for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Shelley Lynn Guay, 53, of St. Catharines, is also facing drug and trafficking-related charges.

Both were held in custody pending a bail hearing that is expected to take place today (June 24).

A third man, Geoffrey Bruce Sutherland, 60, of St. Catharines was arrested and charged with drug-related offences and assault with intent to resist arrest.

He will appear in court on June 23.

None of the charges have been proven in court.
