Thousands of speed camera tickets were scrapped in Mississauga last year.
The City of Mississauga told INsauga.com that due to the Canada Post strike, which lasted from Nov. 15 to Dec. 17, more than 4,000 tickets were affected.
“There were 4,087 ASE (automated speed enforcement) charges that were impacted and not issued due to the postal strike,” the City said.
City of Mississauga spokesperson Irene McCutcheon previously told INsauga.com that provincial regulations require that the tickets are issued within 23 days of the offence.

On average, around 5,000 speed camera offences are recorded in Mississauga each month.
“Some time is required to retrieve, review, and process images captured by the ASE unit to issue (mail) an offence within 23 days following the date of the speeding offence,” the City said.
“The labour disruption more heavily impacted offences which occurred before or during the first few weeks of the postal disruption, as they were not able to be processed and mailed within the 23-day period.”
Offences that were captured during the final days of the strike were able to be processed and mailed in time, the City said.
