COVID-19 vaccination appointments for children are filling up in Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Halton Hills.

According to Halton Region, more than 15,000 children have booked vaccine appointments in Halton since the online booking system launched on Wednesday.

Last week, Health Canada announced the approval of Pfizer-BioNTech’s two-dose vaccine for kids between the ages of five and 11.

The doses are one-third the size of those given to people in other age groups.

Parents or guardians of children five to 11 years of age (turning five in 2021) who live or study in Halton can book doses through the online booking system.

Beginning Friday (Nov. 26), local families can access the vaccines at 60 pharmacies and 57 primary care or paediatric offices in Halton in addition to designated paediatric days at the existing four community clinics.

An additional clinic in Halton Hills will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
