Jack De Keyzer will be among the entertainment this Saturday at Thorold's Rock 'N Blues on the Battlefield in Thorold.

The Battle of Beaverdams Park in Thorold won’t see any bloodshed this weekend but there’s plenty of fun coming.

On Friday, of course, it’s Canada Day and there’s family events galore. The day will see Bumbling Berts magic show, live music by Johnny Max Band and Vinyl Flux, and a fireworks show at the end of the evening.

But on Saturday, it’s the city’s annual “Rock ‘N Blues on the Battlefield” celebrations, something that’s been missing since 2019.

Paying homage to Thorold’s blues legacy, the late Tim Sinnett, who spent many years of his life bringing blues to Thorold, the musical acts will include Figure Four, The Associates, God Boogie super band, Vanessa Collier and Jack De Keyzer.

Thorold Mayor Terry Ugulini says “We were unable to hold this celebration for the last two years due to the pandemic, so we are looking forward to bringing our community back together to celebrate this special occasion.”

Both days are free to residents, who are being asked to bring their own lawn chairs if possible, as the City looks forward to a big turn out, and seating may be limited.

However, Thorold is asking that the pets be kept at home with the exception of service animals.
