This Week’s Weather: Warm, dry start to the week before rain returns to southern Ontario

Pleasant summer weather is expected across southern Ontario this week, with sunshine, warm temperatures and rainy periods.

Here’s what the weather will look like for the week of July 19 to July 25:

Sunday evening will be clear with an overnight low of 11 C.

Monday is expected to be sunny with a high of 26 C, although the humidex will make it feel more like 30 C. Winds will pick up to 20 km/h during the afternoon.

The UV index will reach a very high 8. Environment Canada recommends taking precautions when the UV index reaches 3 or higher, including wearing sunscreen, sunglasses and protective clothing while limiting prolonged sun exposure during peak afternoon hours.

Monday night will be mainly cloudy before skies clear near midnight. Winds will lighten overnight as temperatures fall to 16 C.

Tuesday will be a rainy day with a high of 25 C. Cloudy skies with a 40 per cent chance of showers will continue overnight as temperatures fall to 14 C.

Wednesday will see a mix of sun and cloud with a 30 per cent chance of rain and a high of 22 C. Skies will clear overnight while evening lows dip to a chilly 11 C.

Sunshine returns on Thursday, bringing a high of 26 C. Clear skies will continue overnight with lows dropping to a cool 13 C.

Friday is going to be a mix of sun and clouds with a 30 per cent chance of rain. Daytime highs will climb to 26 C. Cloudy periods with a 30 per cent chance of showers will continue overnight. Temperatures will slip to 15 C.

Saturday will wrap up the week with a mix of sun and cloud.  Afternoon temperatures will rise to 26 C. Skies will become partly cloudy in the evening, with lows falling to 18 C.
