Rainy days are on the way for southern Ontario, bringing mostly cloudy skies with occasional sunny breaks. However, the true sign of fall will be felt in the evenings as chilly temperatures return, dipping into the single digits for the first time since spring.

As of today (Sept. 29), the forecast calls for a warm but breezy day with a bit of sunshine and cloudy conditions. Daytime temperatures will reach a comfortable 24 C before falling to a cool 14 C by the evening.

Monday will start cloudy before clearing up by late morning. Temperatures will rise to 22 C with the UV index climbing to a high of 6.

Environment Canada advises protecting your skin when the UV index is three or higher, particularly between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The humidex is anticipated to hit 25, making conditions slightly uncomfortable for some individuals.

Additionally, Health Canada says that if outdoors, individuals should seek shade, wear protective clothing and hats, apply SPF 30 or higher sunscreen, avoid tanning, use UV-protective sunglasses and stay hydrated throughout the day.

By evening, skies will become slightly cloudy, with fog patches anticipated to develop overnight. Temperatures will fall to 12 C.

Tuesday and the first day of October will begin on a cloudy note. Daytime temperatures will move up to 21 C. Rain will begin in the evening as temperatures slip to a chilly 8 C.

Meteorologists call for a mainly cloudy day with peaks of sunshine on Wednesday. Temperatures will reach 17 C with a 30 per cent chance of rain. By night, temperatures will drop 9 C.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday are expected to be similar, with a mix of sun and clouds. Daytime highs will range between 17 C and 22 C, while evening lows will drop to 6 C— making it the coldest nights of the week!

If you plan to head outdoors this week for work, errands or events, it’s the perfect time to dig out your sweater or layer up—those cool autumn temperatures are making a comeback!
